Elastic Lab was founded in 2007 to develop documentary and commercial work for national clients. With innovative programming ideas and a network of independent filmmakers, we created over 200 branded videos based on consumer interests — cars, sports, travel, music, food, culture, and more — for clients like Honda, Comcast, Native Eyewear, and The Hooch Life.
In 2012, Elastic Lab was purchased by its primary shareholders, Glenn and Julie Morey. Today, we are focused on documentary storytelling of a more personal nature. Our latest project, Side by Side: Out of a South Korean Orphanage and Into the World, launched in 2018 as an online installation of 100 first-person narratives filmed in 6 languages, 7 countries, and 16 cities.
Our first career (advertising) lasted more than 30 years. It was great. We started as a cub creative team, then built our own successful ad agency and incubated another which we sold in 2012. We were privileged over the years to work with national consumer brands like AT&T, American Express, Herman Miller, Quizno’s, Pizza Hut, Honda, Vehix, Nordica, and Public Television. So many of these clients allowed us to connect with their audiences through stories, rather than simply through sales. A few gave us the opportunity to pursue deeper, more lasting connections through documentary film and our world was forever changed.
